About Us

Akua Akyere Memorial Youth Choir is an inter-denominational choir based in Tema, with the passion and desire to broadcast the gospel of Jesus Christ through choral songs and also inspire the souls of individuals.

The choir was formed in February 26, 2018, with 30 members; most of them being students from Chemu Senior High School Choir.
AMYC was founded by the Chief Executive Officer of Light House Shipping Limited, Mr. Bernard Nature Appiah, and it is under the directorship of Mr. Sampson Jerry Addo and Mr. Anthony Nii Obodai Torto. Mr. Bernard Nature Appiah named the choir after her late grandmother, Madam Akua Akyere, a staunch Methodist from Gomoa Buduatta who loved singing. Her favorite song was a hymn from the Methodist Hymnal 679, “Pleasant Are Thy Courts Above”.
The choir was named after the late Madam Akua Akyere, to honor her memory for the positive impact she made in the life of Mr. Bernard Nature Appiah by contributing to making him a better person in society.
